ADHD for KIDS
ADHD can significantly impact a child’s life, leading to challenges in school, social situations, and at home. As a therapist specializing in ADHD, I can help your child develop essential coping skills, improve focus and attention, manage impulsivity, and build self-esteem.
Through a combination of therapy techniques, such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), mindfulness practices, and parent coaching, we can work together to create a supportive environment that allows your child to thrive. I believe in empowering children to understand their ADHD and develop strategies for success in all areas of their lives.
PCIT 2 to 7 Years
PCIT offers parents in vivo training of specific strategies to promote the social-emotional development of their child as well as strategies to implement positive discipline at home.
In PCIT the therapist trains the parents through a one way mirror (with a special hearing aid) to master the most important parenting skills for children from 2 to 7 years old. PCIT offers the necessary tools, as well as training, to enhance parenting skills.
Mindfulness
Mindfulness practices such as HeartMath provide children with valuable tools to navigate the challenges of everyday life. By cultivating present-moment awareness and developing self-regulation skills, children can learn to manage emotions, reduce stress, and improve focus and attention. Through guided meditations, mindfulness games, and age-appropriate exercises, I help children develop a deeper understanding of their thoughts and feelings. Mindfulness can be a powerful tool for building resilience, fostering emotional intelligence, and creating a more peaceful and joyful inner experience for children of all ages.
When Bad Things Happen
The last thing we want children to experience is bullying, abuse, trauma, witnessing disturbing events, or losing a loved one.
Effects of the above can include: changes in eating habits, insomnia, irritability, sadness, isolation, anxiety, refusal to go to school, refusal to leave the home (among many others)
Research has shown that the brain has the capacity to recover from these experiences.
Different treatment modalities can offer healing. One of the most effective modalities is EMDR. EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is an evidence-based treatment intervention that supports rapid relief of symptoms and helps children develop an empowered sense of self.
I am one of counted therapists that work with children/teens and trauma using EMDR. In addition to this modality, I am also certified in:
